One Piece is one of the most popular anime that went past the borders of Japan, to the point where it received its own Netflix series. However, those who are also fans of eSports betting know exactly where the passion for the series meets competition: One Piece Trading Card Game (TCG).
As anticipation builds for the next chapters, competitors and fans are looking forward to the upcoming One Piece card tournament. Season one of the regionals began in late March and is already in full swing. As a fellow enthusiast, it’s important to know when the next events are so that you can tune into them.
Key Tournament Types to Know
Exact schedules can vary depending on the format of the tournaments and the region, but most use a multi-phase system. This includes the following:
- Pirate Parties: Casual events held at local stores for community and skill-building.
- Store Tournaments: Local hobby tournaments with competitive play and prizes.
- Regional and Treasure Cups: Large-scale competitions with more than 1,000 players that bring invitations into the championships.
- National Championship/Finals: Major national events where the winners advance to the world championship.
- World Championship Finals: The main event where the winners from the national championships play against one another.
Brands such as Red Bull also hold special events for various occasions, but they are less predictive, and enthusiasts must keep an eye on the recent news.
Major Regional Events to Know About
The 2026-2027 Championships are going at full power, with the upcoming regionals hosting talents from the local store tournaments. These events take place on numerous continents, including Europe and North America.
The European Events
Europe remains one of the most popular hubs for One Piece TCG tournaments, with the highest player turnout (except for Japan). This makes sense, seeing as One Piece went from niche to global phenomenon. Below are some of the main events to look forward to:
1. Lille, France: April 11 to April 12
This event is the first major test tournament that uses the OP-15 card format, which makes every game more engaging. It will take place at the Lille Grand Palais, and its capacity is expected to exceed 1,000 players. This tournament serves as a trial for the European Meta.
2. Warsaw, Poland: May 2 to May 3
The circuit moves to Warsaw after Lille, and unsurprisingly, player tickets are already sold out. Held at Bobrowiecka 9, this One Piece tournament is particularly enjoyed for the Treasure Cup side events. Many of these now take place in offline formats, as their goal is to promote local community growth.
3. Venice, Italy: May 23 to May 24
The event that takes place three weeks later at Venezia Terminal Passeggeri in Italy is expected to be the culminating point of the spring season. Players enjoy a scenic backdrop while playing some of the most intense card games. The tournament follows Bandai rules, and players can win special items such as booster packs, sleeves, and exclusive DON! cards.
The North American Circuit
One Piece card games are also growing more popular in North America, which is why the events have large player counts. The tournaments usually reach capacity within minutes, which means that viewers can plan their strategies and watch parties early on. Below are the most anticipated upcoming competitions:
1. Toronto, Canada: May 16 to May 17
Toronto is known for being one of the West’s most competitive hubs, which is why it’s no surprise that the Regional Championship and Treasure Cup are here. Held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, more than 1,000 players will compete for the popular Serial-Numbered Luffy.
2. Orlando, Florida: May 23 to May 24
Orlando, Florida, will be active near the end of May, with the regional championship continuing its circuit at Dezerland Mall. Organized by Versus Games, the weekend will include the main regionals and three separate “Treasure Cup” events (one each day). This lets players who lose twice in the mains to still participate in different events and have a shot at winning.
3. Peoria, Illinois: June 20 to June 21
Season 1 continues in June at the Peoria Civic Center in Illinois, where thousands of players are expected to participate. It’s likely to be the first big tournament where the OP-16 “The Time of Battle” meta will start influencing deck choices. This contributes to different winning strategies and various prize pools, making the event even more exciting.
Other Special Tournaments to Look Forward To
Aside from the main championship events, One Piece TCG enthusiasts can also look forward to other noteworthy competitions. Players enjoy these due to the niche approach and competition, whereas the audience prefers them for better odds. Keep an eye out for the following:
Extra Grand Battle
These tournaments are launching this quarter and are aimed at veterans with a grand card collection. Starting in May, this gives them the option to use the “Eternal” format, where cards from Block 1 (the first sets) can be used again. Provided they’re not banned, the cards are eligible in tournaments to win the Serial-Numbered Yamato.
The Red Bull Double DON Finals
Japan has a history of winning the special championship events held by Red Bull, and this year, the TCG card game is in the spotlight. Held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 11, this high-profile event gives every card twice the normal power. Players compete for promo cards, playmats, and exclusive prizes.
Offline Treasure Cups
Up until 2026, most of the One Piece TCG side events took place on platforms such as Discord and Limitless. Now, players can expect them during the May 2026 Wave only in offline format. These are second chances for players dropped in a main event to enjoy prizes such as the Event Pack Vol. 8.
Looking ahead, the competitive landscape of One Piece TCG shows no signs of slowing down. We have plenty of regionals ahead of us, with Season 1 preparing us for the championships. All we can do is tune in and see who wins!
