Ranked OPTCG Meta Report OP07 Week 6 – Best Ladder Decks

Learn how One Piece Card Game OP07 meta is developing in the online scene.

Heya everyone, welcome to the OPTCG Ranked Meta Report! In this article, we'll review the top-performing decks on OPBounty's ranked ladder over the past week (Week 6 of OP07). We'll analyze the top-performing decks, their effectiveness against various matchups, and the key cards players are utilizing.

The decklists I’ll share have high play and win rates, but they aren't necessarily the ones you should play. Your choice should depend on your preference and the shifting meta. I’ll highlight the different cards that players on the ladder are using. I'll also share matchup data, but please keep in mind that I can't filter through 'rank,' so these data might not be accurate. Take it with a pinch of salt.

With OPBounty now offering rewards for climbing their ranked ladder and qualifying for their tournament, it's useful to learn what other players are using to make their climb! We’ll use OPBounty’s OP07 stats to showcase how the One Piece online meta is evolving! I'm ordering the decks in terms of play rate.

With the announcement of ST10-001-trafalgar-law and OP03-098-enies-lobby getting banned in the West as well, we might see players deviate away from the ST10-001-trafalgar-law Leader to practice other decks in preparation for OP08 meta. You can read more about my thoughts on the bans here.


Top-Played Decks

Red Purple Law

In the last meta report, Red Purple ST10-001-trafalgar-law dethroned Black OP05-093-rob-lucci, becoming the most-played deck on the ranked ladder. R/P Law continues to pick up steam, increasing the gap difference in games played between itself and OP05-093-rob-lucci. The deck has 15540 games played and a 54.4% win rate, the highest win rate among all decks on the ranked ladder.

R/P Law will be an even stronger force in OP08 meta, but nothing is stronger than the ban hammer. Bandai Namco will ban Leader ST10-001-trafalgar-law in both the East and West metas starting on September 1st and 6th, respectively.

We will have a new Law Leader, but his effect is nerfed to the ground. The new version of Law can't control the opponent's field and forces you to remove one of your Characters to cheat out another. The Character you're removing isn't going back to your hand, instead, it'll be placed at the bottom of the deck, so you'll also be losing card value when activating it.

Leader ST10-001-trafalgar-law's effect returns an opponent’s character to their deck while developing one of your own, creating a field advantage and enabling aggressive plays. The downside is falling behind on Don, but cards like ST10-008-shachi-penguin, OP05-067-zoro-juurou, and OP05-074-eustasscaptainkid help mitigate this, ensuring you don’t fall behind. The list runs Power reduction cards like OP06-016-raise-max and OP01-006-otama to put the target in range for Leader Law to remove. With rush attacker EB01-003-kid-killer, you can create decisive turns where it's difficult for the opponent to defend from if they're low on Life cards.

What's unique about R/P Law's matchup table is that it doesn't get crushed by any of the meta decks. It might have a slightly unfavored matchup against the likes of Rob Lucci and Gecko Moria, but it's not an awful matchup. This is probably the safest and most consistent choice in a tournament environment, not having to worry about what you'll be going up against, as you'll have a fighting chance against every Leader.

Good Against: Green Bonney, Blue Doflamingo, Black Perona, Blue Nami, Blue Purple Reiju.

Bad Against: Black Rob Lucci, Black Gecko Moria.

  • OP05-019-fire-fist is a cost-reduction card that can KO a 0-cost Character. This could set you up to remove two Characters off the field in one turn or at least put a 7,000 Power Character in range for Leader to remove. It most comes in handy against Black Rob Lucci matchup, enabling you to remove one of the opponent's Characters with Leader effect and KO a OP05-091-rebecca with OP05-019-fire-fist.
  • OP02-013-portgasdace doesn’t gain Rush in this deck but reduces the power of two opponent characters by 3,000, making them easier to remove with Leader Law and vulnerable to your attackers.
  • EB01-006-tony-tonychopper reduces a character’s power by 3,000 and can serve as a blocker to protect your leader.
  • OP01-013-sanji is a +2,000 Counter card but he's on the list for the Yellow Enel matchup. They typically avoid attacking your Leader, keeping you at 4 Life cards, which allows Gedatsu to KO your 4-cost characters. OP01-013-sanji shuts down their plans with his self-damage, forcing them to change tactics.

Black Rob Lucci

Still sitting at the second spot in terms of play rate, Black Rob Lucci had 13965 games played with a 52.8% win rate. Rob Lucci is the second deck affected by the ban list, losing one of its strongest cards, OP03-098-enies-lobby, that offered a -2 cost-reduction effect every turn, giving a consistent method to put Characters in range for your removal cards.

OP02-117-ice-age is likely the go-to card to replace OP03-098-enies-lobby, and although it's powerful cost-reduction event, it won't give the every turn consistency that OP03-098-enies-lobby offered. This doesn't mean Rob Lucci will be out of the meta but will give other decks the chance to build up a threatening field or at the very least, force card resources if Rob Lucci wants to remove threats.

This deck is an excellent choice for control players, having the tools to KO threats before they attack. The deck uses OP05-093-rob-lucci to KO two targets and replays OP05-093-rob-lucci from the trash with cards like EB01-043-spandine and OP06-086-gecko-moria. It has the cost-reduction Power to put targets in range for your removal cards to deal with.

The list also includes KO Characters like OP07-118-sabo and EB01-051-finger-pistol to add removal consistency and to better the R/P Law matchup. This is likely the best choice to bring to a tournament if you're trying to beat the Red Purple Law players.

More lists are adding OP06-092-brook with the continuous rise of Black Yellow Luffy. OP06-092-brook reads "Trash" a 4-cost Character instead of "KO", which allows you to bypass OP04-083-sabo's KO immunity effect. This card is good against popular decks like B/Y Luffy and Black Rob Lucci.

Good Against: R/P Law, Green Bonney, Blue Dofflamingo, Black Gecko Moria.

Bad Against: BY Luffy, Yellow Enel, Blue Nami.

  • OP02-114-borsalino is a defensive character that can't be KO'd through effects, making it a nuisance in mirror matchups.
  • OP07-091-monkeydluffy can Trash one of the opponent's Characters with a cost of 2 or less. Since it reads Trash instead of KO, it's a tech for OP04-083-sabo to still remove a threat against matchups like Black Rob Lucci and Black Yellow Luffy.
  • OP03-097-six-king-pistol is a defensive Event to protect your Leader or a key Character.

The Black Yellow Luffy deck holds its spot as the third most-played deck on the ranked ladder. 10002 games were played this past week with a 48.7% win rate. With OP06-086-gecko-moria dodging a ban/errata, Black Yellow will continue a great performance in the upcoming meta, but looking at the matchup table, there are many counter decks like Green Bonney, Yellow Enel, and Blue Doflamingo that will be on the rise and will likely keep Black Yellow Luffy in check.

The low win rate on the ranked ladder could be due to the difficulty of piloting the deck, as you'll often be at 0 Life cards, trying to create field pressure while ensuring the opponent doesn't get an opportunity to close out the game. Gecko Moria is a crucial part of Black Yellow Luffy's game plan, as you'll often need to cheat out the kid brothers from the Trash and develop multiple Characters per turn to threaten more aggression.

The OP02-117-ice-age inclusion synergizes with OP07-109-monkeydluffy, letting KO targets that are up to 9-cost. So cards like OP06-086-gecko-moria, OP06-118-roronoa-zoro, and OP04-112-yamato can be KO'd with OP07-109-monkeydluffy.

Black Yellow Luffy is a great choice in tournaments because it crushes the Black Rob Lucci matchup by continuously playing OP04-083-sabo and shutting down their KO effects.

Good Against: Black Rob Lucci, Black Gecko Moria, Red Purple Reiju.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Blue Doflamingo, Yellow Enel, Blue Nami.

  • OP03-121-thunder-bolt KO's a 5-cost or less character and synergizes with Black Yellow Luffy's strategy by putting it closer to 0 Life cards.
  • OP02-121-kuzan is a potential play if we're not going for the OP06-086-gecko-moria combo. OP02-121-kuzan can KO a 5-cost on play and puts the opponent's high-cost Character in range for OP07-109-monkeydluffy to KO.
  • Some lists are picking up ST13-005-emporioivankov again for its synergy with what the deck is trying to do, and the remains as a blocker to protect your Leader or key Characters later in the game.
  • OP06-093-perona isn't a popular choice, but the reasoning behind adding her is to force players into trashing a card from their hand, cutting down on their resources.
  • One list experiments with EB01-054-ganfall for its KO effect. This is mostly to remove low-cost blockers like OP06-009-shuraiya or OP05-030-donquixote-rosinante and can remain on the field as a blocker to protect your Leader.

Yellow Enel

In the fourth spot, Yellow Enel has 7752 games played and a 54.2% win rate, the second-highest win rate on the ranked ladder. The deck is powerful in the meta overall, but it can punish players who don't understand how this matchup goes.

This deck can adopt a slow game plan, keeping the field in check until its high-cost Characters join the battlefield. OP05-102-gedatsu is usually the go-to play for the mid-game control before relying on other control cards like OP07-109-monkeydluffy, EB01-059-kingdom-come, and OP04-112-yamato.

With its ability to gain Life cards through OP05-098-enel, OP04-112-yamato, and OP07-119-portgasdace, it can be tough for opponents to set up a winning turn, eventually running them out of steam.

Yellow Enel has a great matchup table, beating most of the meta decks and having a close matchup against R/P Law. If you're an Enel player, you'll mostly be hoping to dodge the Nami players.

Good Against: Blue Doflamingo, BY Luffy, Black Rob Lucci, Black Gecko Moria.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Blue Nami.

  • ST13-008-sabo and OP03-121-thunder-bolt are field control cards that KO mid-game threats to slow down the opponent's pace. ST13-008-sabo is being included in one of the most popular lists played on the ladder.

Green Bonney

Green Bonney has 6703 games played and still holds a solid win rate at 52.7%. The Green Bonney deck excels at stalling the game using the Leader's rest effect, slowing down opponent aggression, and buying time to set up your strategy.

The strategy is to set up the Fortress game plan, where you protect your leader by setting up OP01-051-eustasscaptainkid-701 and protecting with blockers. This makes it exceptionally difficult for opponents to go through while giving you the time to gradually set up attacks that bleed them out of Counter resources.

OP06-035-hody-jones is the main aggressor, joining the field and immediately resting two of the opponent's Characters and creating an aggressive 8,000 Power attack. OP06-118-roronoa-zoro can be an alternative win condition, where the triple attack can destroy the opponent in one turn. Some decks don't have reliable tools to deal with him on the spot, so he shines in those matchups.

Green Bonney struggling against the top two most-played decks is holding it back from becoming one of the top decks in the meta. Once the ban list is effective, we'll likely see more players picking up Green Bonney.

Good Against: Yellow Enel. BY Luffy, Black Perona.

Bad Against: RP Law, Black Rob Lucci, Blue Nami.

  • All lists are running the same cards with small differences in ratios. Only one list is running OP04-029-dellinger that operates similarly to OP07-021-urouge, giving you an Active Don at the end of your turn.

Black Gecko Moria

Black Moria's success in tournaments gave the deck a rise in popularity on the ranked SIM, still holding its spot as the 6th most-played deck. With the rise of gameplay, reaching 6649 games this past week, its win rate has been falling, sitting at 50.1% when it once was 54%.

This deck leverages Leader Gecko Moria's ability to cheat out {Thriller Bark Pirates} characters, each with unique effects contributing to the game plan. OP06-086-gecko-moria is a central part of this deck's game plan, offering value from the Trash and creating opportunities to KO threats.

Blue Nami

If you like playing One Piece with different rules, Blue Nami is the deck for you. You're not looking to control the field or attack the opponent's Leader, instead, the main goal is to survive and mill yourself. Nami changes the game's rules, turning the mill game plan into a win condition. If you fall to 0 cards in your deck, you automatically win the game. This forces the opponent to approach the matchup aggressively, trying to close out the game before you drop to 0 cards in the deck.

The Blue Nami deck holds its spot as the 6th most played deck with 5841 games played and a win rate of 47.2%. The thing with Blue Nami is that it's capable of crushing certain matchups, but has an awful experience against some decks. Who you go up against extremely matters for the Blue Nami players and will dictate your tournament experience.

For example, when I'm talking about polarized matchups, Blue Nami has a 20% win rate against Red Purple Law, an almost unwinnable matchup. However, against Yellow Enel, the Blue Nami player has around 80% win rate.

Good Against: Yellow Enel, Green Bonney, BY Luffy, Black Lucci.

Bad Against: RP Law, Blue Doflamingo, Blue Purple Reiju.

Blue Purple Vinsmoke Reiju

The Blue Purple Reiju continues to rise, overtaking the Blue Doflamingo deck to become the 8th most-played deck. With 4110 games played and a 49.6% win rate, Blue Purple Reiju isn't looking too bad and will have a huge performance boost once Red Purple Law is banned.

This deck relies on low-cost Vinsmoke Characters to cheat out their higher-cost versions. This enables a powerful field development but you'll have to return Don, slowing down your upcoming turns. Returning Don activates your Leader effect to draw a card, basically having a draw engine to keep the pressure going.

OP07-072-porche has given the archetype the ability to adopt a more aggressive game plan, especially if you're able to cheat out OP06-061-vinsmoke-ichiji early into the game. Returning 2 Don can keep you equal or below the R/P Law's total Don, giving you a fighting chance against the difficult matchup.

OP06-062-vinsmoke-judge is the strongest play in this deck, allowing you to develop multiple Characters on the field, setting the stage for one powerful turn to potentially close out the game.

Good Against: Black Gecko Moria, Blue Doflamingo, Blue Nami.

Bad Against: RP Law, Yellow Enel, Black Yellow Luffy.

  • Since we're returning Don, we can play OP07-064-sanji for 3 Don to act as a blocker. He's also a +2,000 Counter, the only downside is our search cards can't draw him.

Blue Donquixote Doflamingo

The Blue Doffy deck had 2954 games played this past week, and its win rate has gone up, sitting at 49% win rate.

This deck uses {The Seven Warlords of the Sea} type Characters as part of its gameplan, capable of cheating out Characters with Leader OP01-060-donquixote-doflamingo and OP07-045-jinbe.

The list has the control tools to keep opponents' aggression under check, using cards like OP07-051-boa-hancock, OP04-056-gum-gum-red-roc, and OP06-058-gravity-blade-raging-tiger.

Good Against: Green Bonney, BY Luffy, Blue Nami.

Bad Against: Yellow Enel, Black Gecko Moria, Black Rob Lucci, R/P Law.

  • An alternative win condition that develops two big bodies on the field. OP06-119-sanji can cheat out OP01-070-dracule-mihawk on the field, which in turn OP01-070-dracule-mihawk removes a 7-cost or less threat off the field. This is the strongest play in the deck that should put you ahead on the field.

Green Yellow Yamato

Every week I post a meta report, and many ask me about Green Yellow Yamato's performance in the meta. Well, here you have it, Green Yellow Yamato pushes into the top 10 most-played decks, kicking Black Green Perona out of the meta.

Green Yellow Yamato had 2292 games played and a win rate of 47.3%. This deck makes use of Leader's Double Attack to put pressure on the opponent, forcing them to expend Counter resources or quickly drop on Life cards, putting them at the threat of losing the game to your aggressive turns.

The popular list on the ranked ladder is the Sky Island version, using OP05-101-ohm and OP05-110-holly to go wide on the field. Rush attackers ST13-011-portgasdace and OP06-035-hody-jones put more pressure on the opponent, backing up your Leader's Double attack.

This list has a high number of games, but a lower win rate. It cuts out OP05-101-ohm and OP05-110-holly and uses OP06-104-kikunojo, OP06-110-nekomamushi, and OP05-102-gedatsu.

Good Against: BY Luffy, Blue Nami, Black Green Perona.

Bad Against: Yellow Enel, Green Bonney, Black Rob Lucci.

The Hody Jones deck recently made top 64 in a regional tournament of 1000+ players, which pushed more players to test it out on the ranked ladder.

This deck can go wider on the field with ST12-003-dracule-mihawk and OP06-024-ikaros-much's help. OP07-032-fisher-tiger, OP06-029-daruma, and OP06-035-hody-jones are the aggressors are key cards in this deck.

A lot of the cards in this deck self-damage your leader, which makes you vulnerable to the opponent's attack. This is where Leader Hody Jones' ability to shut down the self-damage comes to use, allowing you to use your Character's strong effects, without dropping low on health.

The Black Yellow OP03-077-charlotte-linlin can gain Life cards through Leader effect, OP04-112-yamato, and OP03-114-charlotte-linlin. It also makes use of value black cards OP02-096-kuzan and OP06-086-gecko-moria.

The ranked stats aren't always definitive metrics to use for the tournament competitive scene, but they give you a general idea of which decks are most popular and the cards people are experimenting with. It's an extra method to help you prepare for regional tournaments.
