Ranked OPTCG Meta Report OP07.5 Week 1 – Best Ladder Decks

Learn how One Piece Card Game OP07 meta is developing in the online scene.

Heya everyone, welcome to the OPTCG Ranked Meta Report! In this article, we'll review the top-performing decks on OPBounty's ranked ladder over the past week (Week 1 of OP07.5). We'll analyze the top-performing decks, their effectiveness against various matchups, and the key cards players are utilizing. I usually post the Meta Report on Monday or Tuesday, but since the bans are effective on the SIM, I waited until all the old data has been flushed out so we can have a better understanding of the new meta.

The bans for ST10-001-trafalgar-law and OP03-098-enies-lobby have not officially gone effective, yet, however, we've had a week of games on the ranked SIM with those two cards banned. So we'll get to understand how the meta developed on the SIM without Leader ST10-001-trafalgar-law and OP03-098-enies-lobby in the meta.

The decklists I’ll share have high play and win rates, but they aren't necessarily the ones you should play. Your choice should depend on your preference and the shifting meta. I’ll highlight the different cards that players on the ladder are using. I'll also share matchup data, but please keep in mind that I can't filter through 'rank,' so these data might not be accurate. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Top-Played Decks

I want to note that after ST10-001-trafalgar-law and OP07-079-rob-lucci got hit with the bans, there aren't one or two decks hogging most of the games as we usually see. The games played for the top 5 decks are pretty close to one another, unlike last week where ST10-001-trafalgar-law and OP07-079-rob-lucci were on another level compared to the other decks.

Blue Purple Vinsmoke Reiju

Insane changes on the SIM ranked ladder after the ST10-001-trafalgar-law ban. OP06-042-vinsmoke-reiju skyrockets in play rate, going from 8th most-played deck last week to first place! Overtaking decks like Black Rob Lucci, BY Luffy, and Yellow Enel.

The main reason we weren't seeing much of OP06-042-vinsmoke-reiju in the meta was due to ST10-001-trafalgar-law ability to return Don, completely shutting down the OP06-042-vinsmoke-reiju player's game plan. With Law out of the picture, Reiju had 7402 games played on ranked with a win rate of 49.7%, a somewhat low win rate considering that the main counter deck is not in the meta anymore, but this could be because players are picking up the deck newly.

This deck relies on low-cost Vinsmoke Characters to cheat out their higher-cost versions. This enables a powerful field development but you'll have to return Don, slowing down your upcoming turns. Returning Don activates your Leader effect to draw a card, basically having a draw engine to keep the pressure going.

OP07-072-porche has given the archetype the ability to adopt a more aggressive game plan, especially if you're able to cheat out OP06-061-vinsmoke-ichiji early into the game. Returning 2 Don can keep you equal or below the R/P Law's total Don, giving you a fighting chance against the difficult matchup.

OP06-062-vinsmoke-judge is the strongest play in this deck, allowing you to develop multiple Characters on the field, setting the stage for one powerful turn to potentially close out the game.

Good Against: Yellow Enel, Blue Doffy, Yellow Katakuri.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Black Yellow Luffy, Black Rob Lucci, Purple Luffy.

Black Yellow Luffy

Black Yellow Luffy claims second place in games played, having 7197 games this past week, and still can't break into the 50% win rate. Although BY Luffy's 47.2% is low compared to the other top-played decks, the deck has been crushing the tournament scene, proving that it's one of the most difficult decks to pilot correctly.

Gecko Moria is a crucial part of Black Yellow Luffy's game plan, as you'll often need to cheat out the kid brothers from the Trash and develop multiple Characters per turn to threaten more aggression.

The OP02-117-ice-age inclusion synergizes with OP07-109-monkeydluffy, letting KO targets that are up to 9-cost. So cards like OP06-086-gecko-moria, OP06-118-roronoa-zoro, and OP04-112-yamato can be KO'd with OP07-109-monkeydluffy.

Black Yellow Luffy is a great choice in tournaments because it crushes the Black Rob Lucci matchup by continuously playing OP04-083-sabo and shutting down their KO effects. However, it'll be interesting to see how the deck performs in the new meta if Rob Lucci sees less play.

Good Against: Yellow Katakuri, Black Rob Lucci, Black Gecko Moria, Blue Purple Reiju.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Yellow Enel, Blue Doffy.

  • OP03-121-thunder-bolt KO's a 5-cost or less character and synergizes with Black Yellow Luffy's strategy by putting it closer to 0 Life cards.
  • OP02-121-kuzan is a potential play if we're not going for the OP06-086-gecko-moria combo. OP02-121-kuzan can KO a 5-cost on play and puts the opponent's high-cost Character in range for OP07-109-monkeydluffy to KO.
  • OP06-093-perona isn't a popular choice, but the reasoning behind adding her is to force players into trashing a card from their hand, cutting down on their resources.

Green Bonney

Big things are happening here! Green Bonney jumps to the third spot in terms of games played! With 6274 games and a whopping 57.4% win rate, Green Bonney is looking like one of the best decks in the meta. This deck struggled against RP Law due to its ability to remove key Characters like OP07-021-urouge and OP01-051-eustasscaptainkid-701, and with it out of the meta, Green Bonney's win rate went up!

The Green Bonney deck excels at stalling the game using the Leader's rest effect, slowing down opponent aggression, and buying time to set up your strategy. The strategy is to set up the Fortress game plan, where you protect your leader by setting up OP01-051-eustasscaptainkid-701 and protecting with blockers. This makes it exceptionally difficult for opponents to go through while giving you the time to gradually set up attacks that bleed them out of Counter resources.

OP06-035-hody-jones is the main aggressor, joining the field and immediately resting two of the opponent's Characters and creating an aggressive 8,000 Power attack. OP06-118-roronoa-zoro can be an alternative win condition, where the triple attack can destroy the opponent in one turn. Some decks don't have reliable tools to deal with him on the spot, so he shines in those matchups.

I talked before about how Green Bonney was struggling against the top two most-played decks, and with one of them banned and the other losing a key card in its game plan, Green Bonney is on its way to becoming the best deck in the OP07 meta.

Good Against: Yellow Enel, Black Yellow Luffy, Blue Purple Reiju, Purple Luffy.

Bad Against: Black Rob Lucci, Blue Nami.

Tech Cards

All Green Bonney lists are running the same cards. The lists only differ in the number of copies of certain cards.

One list is experimenting with both OP01-054-xdrake and OP04-119-donquixote-rosinante. Since you're resting a Character with Leader effect, OP01-054-xdrake could come in handy to KO a 4-cost Character.

OP04-119-donquixote-rosinante is a late-game Character that lets you cheat out a 5-cost Green Character and protects your field from KO effects.

Black Gecko Moria

So last week, we saw Gecko Moria performing decently, on the ranked SIM. After Rob Lucci lost Enies Lobby, more players moved to Gecko Moria since it was the second-best black control deck. This bumped Moria to the 4th most-played deck, with 5377 games played and a win rate of 53%.

This deck leverages Leader Gecko Moria's ability to cheat out {Thriller Bark Pirates} characters, each with unique effects contributing to the game plan. OP06-086-gecko-moria is a central part of this deck's game plan, offering value from the Trash and creating opportunities to KO threats.

There are different lists being played on the ladder with high win rates. The list I shared isn't running any EB01-046-brook's but there are lists including him as a removal card and are performing well on the ranked ladder.

  • EB01-046-brook is a popular inclusion for its ability to KO a 0-cost Character and remain on the field as a threat when it goes for the attack. OP05-091-rebecca can also play EB01-046-brook from the trash.

Good Against: Purple Luffy, Blue Doffy, Blue Nami.

Bad Against: Yellow Enel, BY Luffy, Black Rob Lucci, Green Bonney.

Black Rob Lucci

How the mighty has fallen. The Rob Lucci games plummet with the ban of Enies Lobby, but does this mean the deck is more? Not quite, the Black Rob Lucci deck maintains one of the highest win rates on the ranked ladder, with 5275 and a 54.6% win rate, we'll likely see players picking up the deck again after they're done exploring other options. With Enies Lobby banned, players are adding OP02-117-ice-age to the list for a powerful cost reduction Event that can be comboed with the OP06-086-gecko-moria play.

This deck is an excellent choice for control players, having the tools to KO threats before they attack. The deck uses OP05-093-rob-lucci to KO two targets and replays OP05-093-rob-lucci from the trash with cards like EB01-043-spandine and OP06-086-gecko-moria. It has the cost-reduction Power to put targets in range for your removal cards to deal with. The list also includes KO Characters like OP07-118-sabo and EB01-051-finger-pistol to add removal consistency.

The list I shared has the highest games played with a solid win rate, so it seems to be the most consistent. There are different lists that include OP07-091-monkeydluffy and more copies of OP02-117-ice-age that are performing well on the ladder.

Although Gecko Moria overtook Rob Lucci in games played this past week, the Rob Lucci deck seems to still remain the better performer, having a higher overall win rate and a better matchup table.

Good Against: Green Bonney, Blue Doffy, Purple Luffy, Blue Purple Reiju.

Bad Against: Yellow Enel, Blue Nami, Black Yellow Luffy.

  • Multiple lists are running two copies of OP02-096-kuzan, which is a great value card that remains on the field as a cost reducer. Opponents will be forced to find an answer to him immediately.
  • OP07-091-monkeydluffy can Trash one of the opponent's Characters with a cost of 2 or less. Since it reads Trash instead of KO, it's a tech for OP04-083-sabo to still remove a threat against matchups like Black Rob Lucci and Black Yellow Luffy.
  • OP06-092-brook reads "Trash" a 4-cost Character instead of "KO", which allows you to bypass OP04-083-sabo's KO immunity effect. This card is good against popular decks like B/Y Luffy and Black Rob Lucci.
  • EB01-051-finger-pistol is a 4-cost event that KOs a 5-cost or less character, with a powerful trigger effect to KO without spending Don. Trashing the top two cards of your deck helps activate OP07-096-tempest-kick or find combo pieces like OP05-093-rob-lucci, OP05-091-rebecca, or EB01-043-spandine from the trash.

Yellow Enel

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

Yellow Enel is in 7th place, with 5001 games played and a 52.6% win rate. The archetype has dropped a bit in win rate compared to last week, so this could be due to the meta changes and Green Bonney' and Blue Nami's rise in popularity.

This deck can adopt a slow game plan, keeping the field in check until its high-cost Characters join the battlefield. OP05-102-gedatsu is usually the go-to play for the mid-game control before relying on other control cards like OP07-109-monkeydluffy, EB01-059-kingdom-come, and OP04-112-yamato.

With its ability to gain Life cards through OP05-098-enel, OP04-112-yamato, and OP07-119-portgasdace, it can be tough for opponents to set up a winning turn, eventually running them out of steam.

Good Against: Blue Doflamingo, BY Luffy, Black Rob Lucci, Black Gecko Moria.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Blue Nami, Blue Purple Reiju.

  • ST13-008-sabo and OP03-121-thunder-bolt are field control cards that KO mid-game threats to slow down the opponent's pace. ST13-008-sabo is being included in one of the most popular lists played on the ladder.

Blue Nami

If you like playing One Piece with different rules, Blue Nami is the deck for you. You're not looking to control the field or attack the opponent's Leader, instead, the main goal is to survive and mill yourself. Nami changes the game's rules, turning the mill game plan into a win condition. If you fall to 0 cards in your deck, you automatically win the game. This forces the opponent to approach the matchup aggressively, trying to close out the game before you drop to 0 cards in the deck.

The Blue Nami deck holds its spot as the 6th most played deck with 4730 games played and a win rate of 49.2%. The thing with Blue Nami is that it's capable of crushing certain matchups, but has an awful experience against some decks. Who you go up against extremely matters for the Blue Nami players and will dictate your tournament experience.

We don't see major changes in Blue Nami's performance despite the main counter matchup (Red Purple Law) being out of the picture. Vinsmoke Reiju for example had an insane rise in popularity, becoming the most-played deck, whereas Nami remains in its 7th spot.

Although Nami players don't have to worry about Red Pruple Law anymore, the rise of Blue Purple Reiju and Purple Luffy have kept their deck in check.

Good Against: Yellow Enel, Green Bonney, BY Luffy, Black Lucci.

Bad Against: Blue Doflamingo, Blue Purple Reiju, Purple Luffy.

Blue Donquixote Doflamingo

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

The Blue Doffy deck had 3866 games played this past week, and its win rate went up to 50.7.

This deck uses {The Seven Warlords of the Sea} type Characters as part of its gameplan, capable of cheating out Characters with Leader OP01-060-donquixote-doflamingo and OP07-045-jinbe.

The list has the control tools to keep opponents' aggression under check, using cards like OP07-051-boa-hancock, OP04-056-gum-gum-red-roc, and OP06-058-gravity-blade-raging-tiger.

Blue Doffy doesn't have a great matchup table at all, it;s losing to most of the top decks in the meta.

Good Against: BY Luffy, Blue Nami, Purple Luffy.

Bad Against: Yellow Enel, Black Gecko Moria, Black Rob Lucci, Blue Purple Reiju.

  • An alternative win condition that develops two big bodies on the field. OP06-119-sanji can cheat out OP01-070-dracule-mihawk on the field, which in turn OP01-070-dracule-mihawk removes a 7-cost or less threat off the field. This is the strongest play in the deck that should put you ahead on the field.

Purple Monkey D. Luffy

If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

The first time Purple Luffy breaks into the top 10 most-played decks! With 2698 games played and a 50.4% win rate, the archetype is performing decently in the new meta so far.

This is a ramp deck where Leader OP05-060-monkeydluffy damages himself to gain an Active Don. This accelerates the deck's game plan, letting you play higher-cost Characters a turn earlier than other decks. This list can be aggressive with ST04-012-page-one and ST04-002-ulti going wide on the field. ST10-013-eustasscaptainkid and ST04-003-kaido-400 give your Leader a Power boost, empowering your attacks, and the Power increase sticks on your defensive turn, forcing opponents to attach more Don to threaten an attack.

The highest win rate list is using OP02-089-judgment-of-hell as a defensive Event to shut down two of the opponent's attackers.

Good Against: Blue Purple Reiju, Blue Nami.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, Yellow Enel, Black Rob Lucci.

Yellow Katakuri

Loading...
If you see this for too long, please disable AdBlock and try to reload the page...

Another new deck that showed up in the top 10 most-played decks is Yellow Katakuri! This deck has been an underdog for a while, holding a high win rate in the meta. Yellow Katakuri has 2238 games played and a 57% win rate, the second-highest win rate among the top 10 decks.

The Yellow Leader, OP03-099-charlotte-katakuri, pushes heavy attacks with his +1,000 effect and manipulates the Life area, increasing the odds of finding your Trigger cards on the right turns.

ST07-010-charlotte-linlin and OP03-114-charlotte-linlin are the main win conditions for this deck, creating high power threats on the field and offering value through their Life card effects.

Katakuri's matchup table is looking great and could be a serious consideration for tournaments. It is losing to the popular Green Bonney and BY Luffy, but beating almost anything else with a close matchup against Reiju.

Good Against: Gecko Moria, Yellow Enel, Blue Doffy, Purple Luffy.

Bad Against: Green Bonney, BY Luffy.

Red Purple Luffy had 2085 games this past week, almost making it into the top 10 decks. This is a ramp deck that can be aggressive thanks to Leader's 6,000 Power. ST10-013-eustasscaptainkid and OP02-004-edwardnewgate-511 give Leader ST10-002-monkeydluffy a Power boost, making it even more difficult for attacks to damage him.

OP05-119-monkeydluffy is this deck's strongest late-game play, setting the stage for a winning turn thanks to the extra turn he gives you

Closing Word

The ranked stats aren't always definitive metrics to use for the tournament competitive scene, but they give you a general idea of which decks are most popular and the cards people are experimenting with. It's an extra method to help you prepare for regional tournaments.
